MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A man is in custody after Bibb County deputies say he shot into a vehicle Friday night at Walmart on Harrison Road, leaving a man hospitalized.

It happened just before 6:30 p.m., according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Deputies say a man was sitting in his vehicle in the lower parking lot when 21-year-old Ja’Quan D’Oderick Andrews approached him and tried to enter his vehicle. As the victim started his car in an attempt to escape, deputies say Andrews fired shots through the passenger window, striking the victim in the leg.

The victim then drove around the back of the store before reaching the lower entrance and running inside for help.

He was taken to Atrium Health Navicent and is listed in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.

Members of the sheriff’s office’s Special Response Team (SRT) Unit and patrol deputies took Andrews into custody in the parking lot of the nearby Dollar Tree.

He was taken to the Bibb County Jail and is being held without bond on a charge of aggravated assault.
