CGTC announces addition of football, soccer to intercollegiate athletics program
Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) announced Friday the introduction of football and men’s & women’s soccer teams to its intercollegiate athletics program.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) announced Friday the introduction of football and men’s & women’s soccer teams to its intercollegiate athletics program.
Starting Fall 2024, these sports will be sanctioned by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
Under the leadership of head football coach Donald Hitson and head soccer coach Enrique Fuentes, the programs are currently recruiting athletes.
The college says the move aligns with CGTC’s dedication to enhancing student engagement and overall well-being.
“The addition of these athletic offerings further demonstrates our continued commitment to student engagement and well-being,” CGTC President Dr. Ivan Allen said.
CGTC fielded a club football team in recent years, playing as a member in the National Club Football Association (NCFA). The team went 4-1 record in their first season and 13-0 record in their second, finishing 2023 by claiming the NCFA title with a win over Ohio State in the NCFA Championship Bowl.
The school debuted Atrium Health Field at the Roy H. “Sonny” Watson Wellness Complex in September 2023. The facility boasts a regulation-size turf football/soccer field and track surface.
“The vision and development of these programs is a testament to the incredible College-wide and community support for our Titans,” the college’s newly-appointed executive director of athletics and compliance Cathy Johnson said, adding the college is committed to providing student-athletes opportunities for both academic and athletic success.
