First rain of 2024 set to arrive Wednesday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A low pressure system tracking along the Gulf Coast will bring rain to Middle Georgia Wednesday.
The Rest of the Evening
It will be a cold and mostly clear night with cloud cover likely not moving in a whole lot until after midnight. Temperatures will drop down to the freezing point for most of Middle Georgia. Winds will come from the southwest at upwards of 5 mph.
Tomorrow
Cloud cover will thicken during the early hours of the morning as temperatures warm back up. Temperatures will top off in the lower 50s for most of Middle Georgia, however a couple of spots may only reach the upper 40s. Winds should be light and variable throughout the afternoon.
Showers will likely begin around lunchtime with more widespread light-to-moderate rain likely in the evening.
Tomorrow night rain will taper off, and all but the southeasternmost counties of the region should see the rain cease ahead of midnight. Rain totals around Middle Georgia should stay under half an inch. Cloud cover will work to clear out through the remainder of the night. Temperatures will bottom out around freezing once again.
Thursday and Beyond
Sunny skies will be back for most of Thursday and Friday before clouds return Friday afternoon and evening. Overnight Friday and the first half of Saturday will likely be wet as another rainmaker passes through, however Sunday and Monday should be a bit nicer.
