UPDATE: Coroner says missing man found dead inside chimney

A man who went missing last month was found dead inside a chimney of a home on Friday night, according to Macon-Bibb Coroner Leon Jones.

UPDATE (1/20/24): A man who went missing last month was found dead inside a chimney of a home on Friday night, according to Macon-Bibb Coroner Leon Jones.

Jones says the body of 43-year-old Anthony Rumplik was discovered inside inside the chimney of a home at 1085 Courtland Avenue. Jones says he was pronounced dead at 8:17 p.m.

A Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release says deputies responded to the home just after 9 p.m. and were informed that “a person was discovered inside of the chimney of the home.”

Deputies did not say who found the body or what led to the discovery.

The Macon-Bibb Fire Department was called to assist in removing the body. An autopsy will be conducted.

Deputies say more information will be released when it’s available.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office needs help locating a missing person.

Family members of 43-year-old Anthony Rumplik told deputies Rumplik was last seen on December 28 in the 2200 block of Courtland Avenue.

Family members say Rumplik suffers from schizophrenia and renal failure. He’s about 5’10” and weighs about 175 pounds. He is known to wear his hair in a ponytail, deputies say.
