Mostly pleasant holiday weekend expected ahead of a wet Christmas

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Temperatures will be warmer under a healthy dose of sun for most of this weekend before thicker clouds roll in Sunday.
The Rest of the Evening
It will be slightly more mild tonight thanks to some of the added cloud cover from the afternoon. Winds will still remain rather calm from the east-northeast at around 5 mph. It will still be chilly by tomorrow morning with lows in the upper 30s and lower 40s expected around Middle Georgia. No rain is expected overnight.
Saturday
Mostly sunny skies are likely for much of Saturday as temperatures climb into the upper 60s and lower 70s around Middle Georgia. Winds will largely come from the east at around 5 mph. Skies should stay mostly clear into the evening.
Overnight a few isolated clouds are likely, but it should overall be a pleasant but cool night. Temperatures will bottom out in the low to mid 40s with winds from the east-southeast coming in at about 5 mph.
Sunday (Christmas Eve)
Following a sunny start Middle Georgia will see cloud cover begin to increase later in the afternoon. Highs will still largely reach the upper 60s (a couple of lower 70s are possible) with winds from the east about 5-10 mph.
Overnight skies will be overcast, resulting in much warmer lows. Temperatures will only drop into the low to mid 50s ahead of Christmas morning. Some isolated to scattered showers will be possible overnight, especially as Christmas morning draws nearer. Winds will come from the east-southeast at about 10-15 mph.
Christmas and Beyond
An incoming cold front will bring widespread rain (and perhaps a rumble of thunder or two) to Middle Georgia throughout Christmas Day and into Tuesday (perhaps some showers could linger until Wednesday) with temperatures likely to only reach into the low to mid 60s. Conditions will stay mild as mostly cloudy skies will likely hang around through Wednesday. Cooler but sunnier conditions should return to finish the week.
