Sheriff: 7-year-old found dead in Jones County, 2 parents in custody

Sheriff Butch Reece says the circumstances are believed to be suspicious, but no cause of death or charges have been announced.

JONES COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 7-year-old child was found dead in the Hampton Lakes subdivision off Highway 49 Thursday, and two parents are in custody, according to Jones County Sheriff Butch Reece.

Reece told 41NBC reporter Gena Tripp Thursday night that the circumstances are believed to be suspicious.

He did not provide a cause of death, information about charges or details about when or how the child was found.
