MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A youth travel football game at Henderson Stadium earlier this month ended with shots fired and a “melee” involving several people.

Five people were arrested, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post on Tuesday.

The post said deputies from the Special Response Team (SRT) were called to the scene just before 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 5 after a “melee” broke out involving players, parents, coaches and cheerleaders. The fight stemmed from “aggressive” social media posts between the opposing sides. Security initially separated the groups, but a second fight started shortly after.

Deputies say youth coach Donta Williams Sr. pulled out a handgun and fired shots into the air. He was arrested and charged with reckless conduct and discharge of a firearm near a public highway or street. Four others—Alisha Tanya Wynn, Shantia Meteeia Hamilton, Latesha Monique Williams and Jevar Jarran Hollingshed—were arrested for disorderly conduct and obstruction charges.

“There were minor injuries as a result of the melee,” the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said in a response to 41NBC’s inquiry. “Thankfully, no one was harmed from gunfire.”
