One person dead, another injured after a two car crash in Monroe County

MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – One person is dead and another is injured after a car crash in Monroe County early Wednesday morning.

According to Anna Lewis with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Paul Dewberry, of Forsyth, died after the car he was a passenger in crashed into another car on High Falls Road near Boxankle Road just after midnight Wednesday.

Lewis said the car Dewberry was in was traveling towards I-75 when the driver failed to maintain their land and hit a Ford Crown Victoria. The Ford tried to avoid the crash, but the car Dewberry was in, a Mercury Grand Marquis, hit it near the passenger side headlight.

Lewis said the Mercury Grand Marquis went down an embankment. Monroe County EMS has to extract Dewberry from the car. He was taken to Monroe County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Mercury Grand Marquis was taken to Medical Center Navicent Health in Macon for minor injuries. The driver of the Ford Crown Victoria was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Lewis said at this time, charges may be pending against the driver of the Mercury Grand Marquis.
