Man arrested in Byron, Police say he stole gun

BYRON, Georgia (WMGT/41NBC) – Byron police arrested a man over the weekend, they say he stole a gun.

According to a news release from the Byron Police department, 19 year old Vernon Grable was arrested Saturday afternoon. Officers say he stole a gun from a man who was giving him a ride while the man was in a Circle K convenience store just before 10:30 Saturday morning.

According to the release, the victim told Grable he was going to call law enforcement when he asked him about the gun and Grable ran. Officers and a witness saw Grable run into a wooded area behind Burger King on Highway 49. A perimeter was set up by law enforcement. Warner Robins Police K-9, Peach County Sheriff’s Office, Fort
Valley Police and GSP Aviation assisted in the search.

Grable was arrested at 12:40 Saturday afternoon. Charges are pending at this time.
