31 arrested in multi-state drug trafficking bust, 22 from Middle Georgia

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – More than 30 people were arrested after a federal undercover investigation busted up a multi-state drug trafficking ring spanning from Macon to northern California.

The suspects are all facing drug trafficking, firearms, and money laundering charges. 22 of those arrested are from Middle Georgia.

U.S. Attorney Michael Moore says investigators seized about 15 kilograms of cocaine and 10,000 lbs. of marijuana.

“With that and great cooperation with state and federal partners in sharing information, we were able to determine to determine who was responsible for bringing the drugs into the Middle Georgia area and with that we’re able to move forward with our case,” Moore said.

Investigators also seized more than half a million dollars in cash.

Penalties for the charges range from five years in jail to life in prison without parole and fines from $250,000 to $10 million.
