New shopping center expected to be built in West Macon

MACON, Ga (WMGT/41NBC) – West Macon will be getting a new shopping center soon.

According to a news release from JWA Ventures,  Tobesofkee Crossing Shopping Center will be built on the corner of Thomaston Road and Tucker Road.

It will be 68,000 square feet and most of that will be taken up by a new Publix Super Market.

“The new Publix at Tobesofkee Crossing shopping center will provide a much-needed high-quality grocery option to customers in an area that is currently underserved,” said Evan Conder, Development Director of JWA Ventures, “The size of this store, offering fresh produce, pharmacy related items, a deli, and various soft goods will provide excellent service to the customers in the area. In addition to the Publix store, a variety of complementary retail, service, and restaurant related offerings will be included in the
center that will benefit the community.”

Publix is expected to hire 120 to 150 people for the new store.

Construction of Tobesofkee Crossing Shopping Center is set to begin during the second quarter of 2019 and the building should open by the second quarter of
2020.
