MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two Bibb County Sheriff Deputies are suspended with pay after a woman says she was assaulted by a deputy.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says the 43-year-old victim told them that she was assaulted by Deputy James Stiles earlier this week.
The woman was found sitting between two rail cars when she reported the incident Tuesday to deputies. However, she says the incident took place Sunday night.
Authorities say the deputy was off-duty when he picked up the woman while responding with other deputies to help a stranded person.
The victim says Stiles got a room for her at the Macon Inn on Riverside Drive. She says he was in uniform and was driving a patrol car when he entered her room moments later.
After the incident, authorities say she reported the incident to Deputy Tabitha Costello, who did not complete an incident report.
Deputies say Costello is now being investigated after she failed to initiate the report.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is working with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs Division on this investigation.
