Navicent Health Hospital receives highest award for stroke patient care


MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Navicent Health Hospital is showing the medical world that different strokes are treatable for all folks in Middle Georgia.

The hospital announced getting its seventh ‘Get with the Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award’ on Tuesday.

Stroke specialist Denise Goings says because they are qualified at Navicent to treat both ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, they were able to continue going above and beyond in providing health care.

“Last year we were one level lower so this year we’ve achieved the highest recognition through get with the guidelines which is apart of the American heart American stroke association that you can actually receive in the country  for delivering quality stroke care.”
Requirements for the award are pretty steep. An 85% or higher for two years straight  and a 75 or higher and meeting 5 out of 8 ‘get with the guidelines quality measures is needed to qualify.
