MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two Butts County deputies were hurt Monday morning in Jenkinsburg while serving an eviction order, according to a Facebook post by the Butts County Sheriff’s Office.

It happened just before 10 a.m. on County Line Road. Deputies were executing the eviction order when the suspect, who the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) later identified as 30-year-old Courtney Deonta Reeves,  grabbed a machete and began attacking them, according to the post.

One deputy was cut on the arm and has been treated and released. The second deputy had large cuts on his head and hand. He remains in stable condition at the hospital.

Video posted on the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page showed law enforcement escorting ambulances to Atrium Health Navicent.

Reeves is in the Butts County Jail. The GBI is leading the investigation.

“If you assault one of my deputies are are fortunate enough to live another day, rest assured, when convicted I will do everything in my legal power to see that you spend every possible day in a State Prison,” Sheriff Gary Long said.
