Teenager charged in shooting that injured 11-year-old

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An 11-year-old boy is recovering after Bibb County deputies say he was shot in the leg while playing with a gun.

It happened Wednesday afternoon around 12  in the 2800 block of Roy Street but deputies didn’t get the call until just before 8pm.

Deputies say the child and a 15-year-old boy were playing with the gun when the teenager fired the weapon hitting the child.

According to deputies,  the child tried to hide the incident from his parents.

The 15-year-old is charged with aggravated assault and was taken to the Regional Youth Detention Center.

Deputies say the 11-year-old was listed in stable condition at a local hospital.
