Commissioner Al Tillman meets with community about Filmore Thomas Park
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon-Bibb Commissioner Al Tillman met with some people he represents on the city’s west side. They met at the New Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church on Robinson Road.
The District 9 Commissioner updated people on the progress of the work at Filmore Thomas Park.
One-point-seven million dollars of SPLOST money was used for the project.
A new playground, splash pad, basketball courts and more are being built. The park is set to open next month.
Commissioner Al Tillman said, “I think it’s just a blessing to have in this community for these young people and the seniors who have been fighting for it for so long. It’s going to be the most beautiful park in Macon. So people are really going to love it.”
If new SPLOST dollars are approved by voters next month, Tillman is hoping about four-million will be allotted so a recreation center can be built at Fillmore Thomas Park sometime in the near future.
Macon-Bibb Director of Parks and Recreation Reggie Moore was also on hand at the meeting.
