1 dead after Sunday crash in Washington County

One person died after a two-vehicle crash in Washington County Sunday morning.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – One person died after a two-vehicle crash in Washington County Sunday morning.

According to Georgia State Patrol, it happened on State Route 242/West Church Street near Woodbine Dr. The preliminary investigation revealed a Honda Accord was passing a Toyota Tacoma in a no passing zone while the Tacoma was turning left. The Accord struck the Tacoma.

Both drivers were taken to Washington County Regional Medical Center, where the driver of the Tacoma died. We have not received an update on the other driver’s condition.

Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran posted on the sheriff’s office Facebook page just before 9 a.m. Sunday that deputies and emergency services were on the scene. “Please use caution when approaching this area and expect delays and or traffic detours,” he wrote.

Troopers did not identify the names of those involved.
