1 dead after head-on crash on Pio Nono Avenue early Sunday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – One person is dead and another is in stable condition at the hospital after a head-on crash on Pio Nono Avenue early Sunday morning.

According to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release, it happened just after 2 a.m.

Deputies say a Chevrolet van was traveling southbound on Pio Nono Avenue when the driver tried to go around a vehicle and collided with a Ford Expedition traveling northbound. The driver of the Expedition is in stable condition. The driver of the van died at Atrium Health Navicent.

Deputies say the victim’s family has not been notified.
