$1.5 Million Grant Given to Medical Center of Central Georgia

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A new state-of-the-art oncology facility being built at the Medical Center of Central Georgia received a boost in funding today.

Leaders at the Medical Center announced the donation of a $1.5 million grant from the Peyton Anderson Foundation, which will be used to finish up construction on the location.

Debbie Schuchmann, the senior development officer of the MEDCEN Community Health Foundation,
said the new center will add convenience and comfort for those suffering from cancer, as well as their families.

“It’s a stressful time at best when you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, so we’re trying to ease that process for our patients’ families,” she said, “At the same time, it’s offering better care for our whole community.”

Schuchmann also added the center’s goal is to provide high-quality care in a safe environment for patients, easing the amount of stress generated from a cancer diagnosis as much as possible.

The facility will house out-patient and radiation services, and serve cancer patients throughout the region.
