Young Voters Meet to talk SPLOST
Monday dozens of residents met up at the Macon Bibb Wins headquarters to talk about one of the hot button issues on the November ballot, the SPLOST. Young professionals hosted “Meet Up Monday” for all area residents, but wanted to reach out to the county’s younger voters to help them understand what the penny tax means for them and their city. The laid back atmosphere allowed an open conversation about the possible tax. Opinions were heard even if everyone wasn’t on the same page.
If passed, The Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax would generate $190 million for community improvement projects.
If you missed out on Monday’s meet-up there is another opportunity to learn about the penny tax Thursday, October 20. Commissioners Bert Bivins and Lonzy Edwards will host an information session at Charles A. Landford, Jr, MD Library at 6504 Houston Road beginning at 7am.
