Yoder’s Deitsch Haus: Family Owned and Operated
The Pennsylvania German name, Yoder’s Deitsch Haus means “Dutch house.” The owner of the quaint restaurant in Montezuma, Ben Yoder says the old fashioned eatery has been serving customers for 30 years.
“Dad opened in ’84,” says Yoder.
The youngest of 12, Yoder says opening the restaurant was a way for his parents to keep the family together.
“I was 9-years-old and I’ve pretty much been in here ever since,” says Yoder.
He isn’t the only one who’s stuck around, almost everyone who walks through the door is a regular.
John Powell says “I’ve always enjoyed it here, I’ve always enjoyed the food, and the service and you couldn’t ask for better people.”
From the pies to the casseroles, the dishes are all family recipes.
Yoder says, “Mom was always a great cook and we got our recipes from her.”
He believes everyone can enjoy the family atmosphere and says it’s like eating at home.
