WR Cupcakery Goes Green with Discounts

A life long dream made a reality was reason enough for June McGhee, owner of Simply Cupcakes, to give back to her Warner Robins Community.

She’s doing it by going green. She offers a 5% discount to customers who bring in the cardboard boxes the cupcakes are sold in.

The idea started after she had already been offering a military discount. “Everybody’s not military. So I was also trying to think of a different way to give back to the community. We thought about the box and how everybody is trying to go green,” says McGhee.

McGhee says her customers love getting a discount. “It’s not a lot, but people love it,” says McGhee.

McGhee actually picked the brown boxes to be different and stay way from traditional pink boxes. Her choice came with a pleasant surprise. McGhee says, “Come to find out they were made from recycled materials.”

Customers reusing the boxes has helped McGhee cut down on costs. “The cost of the boxes you know materials are very high. So it really does help us,” says McGhee.

She is also cutting down on costs by buying locally, she says “we try to use all local ingredients.”

Those business practices are bringing her savings just as sweet as her made from scratch one of kind cupcakes.
