Woman Watches As Man Robs And Kills Her Boyfriend

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The city of Macon sees three homicides in three days, and police still need your help in solving them. The latest happening on Bartlett Street, where a man is shot and killed, while his girlfriend watched and hid.

Maya and her boyfriend, Leonard Cox, who went by the name Ray, were spending their Sunday night sitting on the back porch. While Maya went inside, a man pulled up, and demanded Ray give him what he had.

“He had the gun all the way in his face, saying, ‘give me everything, give everything up’. And Ray was giving up everything he had. And the dude was like, ‘that’s not it, that’s not it’. And Ray was telling him that it was,” Maya recounts.

Maya, afraid for her life, could only hide and hope the worst had passed. What happened next, was a nightmare come true.

“He(Ray) got up out of his seat to ease into the apartment and tried to close the door. But the dude stopped the door with his foot and he put his arm in the door and shot. And Ray stumbled back and fell on the ground. And dude was still asking him to give it up, while he was laying on the ground,” Maya says.

When the man left, Maya ran down the street to her grandparent’s house and called for help. After that when police arrived, Maya’s grandfather “Jack”, and an officer found Ray’s body.

“Me and the officer saw him at the same time, laying on the floor. And it wasn’t good. It wasn’t a pretty sight,” Jack says.

Maya says Ray had about 30 or 40 dollars on him when he was robbed.

“It wasn’t nothing to be robbing nobody over. I just hope that whoever did this just, they be taken care of. I know God is gonna take care of them. I hope the law can put them where they need to be at.”
