Woman Shot in Back, Left Outside Macon Gas Station

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A woman was shot inside a vehicle Thursday and then dropped off near a Macon gas station.

Just before noon, witnesses say they heard 37-year-old Anita McDaniel scream, “Help me!” in the parking lot between All Star Tire and Wheel and the Marathon Gas Station on Pio Nono Avenue near Houston Avenue.

Steve Logan, an employee at the tire shop, tells 41NBC he heard McDaniel’s cries and saw her stumbling in the parking lot.

That’s when he says he saw her stand up and noticed blood streaming down her back.

She then walked about ten yards before falling down next to a dumpster outside the Marathon Gas Station.

According to witness statements from the Bibb County Sherrif’s Office, McDaniel was looking at cars at a used car lot on Pio Nono Avenue when she asked for a ride from a couple who was also at the car lot.

McDaniel stated she did not know the couple. As they were traveling, the male suspect, who was sitting in the back seat, demanded money from McDaniel, who was sitting in the front passenger seat. When she refused, the male suspect shot her in the shoulder.

McDaniel gave an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspects, and that’s when she was dropped off.

McDaniel was transported to the hospital where she is receiving medical treatment for her injury and is listed in stable condition.

This incident is under investigation.  Anyone with information is urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-746-9441 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
