Woman killed crossing street in Milledgeville
A woman was killed while crossing the street in Milledgeville.
It happened Monday around 11a.m., on North Columbia Street near Sinclair Marina Road.
Georgia State Patrol is investigating the traffic fatality.
According to Troy Flury, of GSP post 33, Ashley Mitts, 28, walked out into traffic of the busy roadway and was struck by a 2004 Ford Van.
Serathin Yoro, 41, was driving the van and he was alone. Yoro has not been charged with any traffic violations.
Flury said Mitts lived on North Columbia Street and was crossing the street alone.
“They think she came out of a private drive,” added Flury.
The pedestrian fatality accident remains under investigation.
“They sent out blood work off, for the driver and the victim,” he continued.
Baldwin County Chief Deputy Coroner, Ken Garland said Mitts died of “multiple bunt force trauma.”
