Alyssa Barrett is charged with two counts of cruelty to children and two counts of simple battery.

BOLINGBROKE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a daycare employee after she was seen on video hitting two children.

According to a press release, deputies responded on April 26 to an incident that took place at Little Angels Day Care in Bolingbroke on April 22.

When deputies arrived, they spoke to the director at the daycare.  The director told deputies that an employee, Alyssa Barrett, grabbed a 3-year-old girl who was sitting on the floor by her left arm and forcefully pulled her up. According to the report, the forceful pull caused the girls entire body to come off the floor about 2 to 3 feet, then tossed her to the floor.

According to the report, the girl got up, ran across the room, sat down, started crying and rubbing her arm. Barrett was later seen walking by the child and striking her with her hand.

Barrett was later seen walking over to a 4-year-old boy that was laying on the floor on his back. Barrett struck the boy in what appeared to be the lower chest/upper abdomen area with an open hand.

The director stated that Barrett was fired after the incidents, the children’s parents were notified and the incident was reported to the state on Monday, but law enforcement was not notified immediately.

Barrett was arrested April 29 at 8:51 am. Barrett is charged with two counts of cruelty to children (felony) and two counts of simple battery (misdemeanor).
