Winship Hills Residents View Design Options for Interstate Noise Barriers

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Noise can be a nuisance for those who live near the interstate.

That’s the problem for about 20 homeowners in Macon’s Winship Hills neighborhood.  Thursday, about a dozen of them met with Georgia Department of Transportation officials at Northwoods Academy.

The focus of the meeting was to get feedback on the design of noise barriers along the improved I-16/I-75 interchange.

Design options presented at the meeting included both a smooth concrete surface and a rough one, but the citizens there seemed to focus more on the length of the barrier.  At least one resident said he’d like to see it extended further.

Residents have until January 26 – to submit feedback.  You can find the plans online and print out a comment card at i16i75.com.
