Wilkinson Co. Murder Trial Postponed Until January 2013
IRWINTON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Zachary Beck murder trial has been pushed back until January 2013.
Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit District Attorney Fred Bright tells 41 NBC the defense asked for a continuance and Judge Trent Brown agreed to postpone the trial until Monday, January 7th.
Bright says the jurors selected to sit on the case will remain the same. Attorneys spent all day Monday narrowing it down to 12 jurors and three alternates. Judge Brown gave the jurors explicit instructions to not discuss, read, or watch anything dealing with the case.
This comes after the defense filed a motion for a one-day continuance on Tuesday. Lead defense attorney Ricky Morris was feeling ill.
Beck allegedly robbed and killed 54-year-old Ronnie Williz Rozier at his home on Parker Springs Church Road in McIntyre on January 6, 2011.
Bright says he expects the trial to last one week long.
