Wilcox County is Headed to the State Championship
The Lady Patriots dominated Screven County 75-47 in the GHSA Class A Division Two Semifinal Round

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – On Friday afternoon at Georgia College and State’s Centennial Center, the 27-1 Wilcox County Lady Patriots defeated the 23-6 Screven County Lady Gamecocks 75-47 in the GHSA Class AA Division Two Final Four.
After the game, 41NBC’s Justin Dierkes spoke with Wilcox County Head Coach Santita Coon about what this win means after coming up short in the 2024 Semifinal Round. “Emotions are very, very high. I am just so excited for these girls and how hard they’ve worked” said Coach Coon. “This doesn’t come this year. We’ve worked for the last two years to get to this point. To make sure that we stay grounded. That’s what we’re looking for, just to stay grounded, stay humble, and be ready to play against whoever wins out of Washington-Wilkes and Macon County.”
Lady Patriots Sophomore Guard Shamauri Martin had a game high 30 points. She was emotional as well after the game. “It means a lot ’cause over the season I struggled a lot, so it means a lot to actually have a breakout game” said Martin outside the locker room. “I work hard for this and everybody worked hard, so it means a lot to go to the championship.”
The Lady Patriots advance to the State Championship to face Washington-Wilkes at the Macon Coliseum Friday, March 7. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
