Why Daniel Greene Faces Execution for Taylor County Killing
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia Attorney General’s office released the Georgia Supreme Court’s summary of the Daniel Greene case, as the Taylor County Superior court issued the order for his execution Monday.
Below is that summary and notes from the trial and from subsequent appeals. It outlines Greene’s crime spree in 1991 that included him killing and stabbing a man in the heart, stabbing a woman in the lung and liver, and stabbing an elderly in the head multiple times.
Before the trial in a videotaped interview, he confessed he was trying to get money for crack cocaine, but during the trial, he suggested that he was unknowingly under the influence of drugs when the crimes occurred.
