Westside seniors stay in southeast for college

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Three seniors threw on caps and signed their letters of intent at Westside High School.

After a successful season and several end of the year honors, Khayyan Edwards, Marquez Sanford, and Tyler Wheeler are staying in the southeast.

Edwards is heading to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Sanford to Murray State in Kentucky, and Wheeler is headed to Coastal Carolina.

“Having all of my coaches behind me, pushing me. My family coming to my games. That was really big,” Edwards said.

“Murray just felt like home and they recruited my as an athlete. I’m playing both sides of the ball,” Sanford said.

“I had visited there twice. I like the school and I like what they stand for, being a man,” Tyler Wheeler said.

All three seniors say they’re hoping to start their freshman year, and add it will take a lot of work to make that happen.
