Westside High Celebrates Six College Signees, Including Two Historic Firsts

MACON, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – It was a proud day in Bibb County as six student-athletes from Westside High School signed their letters of intent Wednesday afternoon, marking the next chapter in their athletic and academic journeys.

In a ceremony held inside the school auditorium, four Seminole seniors committed to continuing their athletic careers in football and basketball, while two more made school history — and one even making county history — in volleyball and flag football.

On the football side, runningback Kimoiray Holland-Stephens is headed to Erskine College, and Jaden Dawson will continue his career at Columbus State University.

Two basketball standouts, Josh Harding and Christian Little — both transfers who made an impact this past season — signed to Gordon State College and Coastal Alabama South, respectively. After just two seasons at Westside, Harden finished in ninth place all-time on the Seminoles scoring list, while Little is in 17th place all-time after just two seasons.

“I want to thank my parents for always helping me achieve my dream,” Harding said. “And I want to thank my teammates — Christian’s always been like a brother to me and the rest of the team.”

Added Holland-Stephens: “First, I want to thank God for letting me be in the position I’m in, to be able to play sports at another level. Second, I want to thank my mom for being my biggest supporter and being by my side.”

“I appreciate the opportunity,” Little said. “All my coaches who stayed down, helped me keep a level head, and just become better each day. I appreciate everybody that’s been in my life.”

History was also made from the volleyball court and the flag football field.

Titiana Johnson became the first Westside student-athlete to sign a collegiate volleyball scholarship, committing to Wesleyan College. Meanwhile, Ji’Kayla Marshall became the first student-athlete in Westside — and all of Bibb County — to sign onto play flag football at the next level, committing to the University of Mount Olive.

“It means a lot,” Johnson said. “My emotions are everywhere right now. I’m extremely appreciative of everybody. I’m proud of myself and everyone who’s helped me grow and build something in myself.”

Marshall reflected on her milestone moment with pride.

“I’ve come a long way to be here right now,” she said. “To see that I’m the first — that really feels great.”

The ceremony capped off a special afternoon for Westside and its community, celebrating both athletic achievement and the breaking of new ground in school and county history.
