West Laurens Senior Ty Cummings Wins GHSF Daily State Player of the Week….Again
The Raiders Senior has won the award for consecutive weeks after big region wins over Harlem and Baldwin

DEXTER, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – West Laurens senior running back Ty Cummings has been named the Georgia High School Football Daily State Player of the Week for the second consecutive week after a record-breaking performance in Week 7.
Cummings rushed for 615 yards and eight touchdowns on just 19 carries, setting a new GHSA single-game rushing record. He scored five touchdowns in the first half alone on only seven carries.
According to the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), Cummings’ 615-yard outing ranks among the top 10 single-game rushing performances ever recorded nationally.
Even after the Raiders’ bye week, Cummings leads Class 3A in rushing with 1,332 yards through six games. He now sits at 4,771 career rushing yards, breaking West Laurens’ all-time records for both rushing yards and touchdowns.
The Raiders, off to their best start since 1973, will look to keep their momentum going Friday as they travel to face Academy of Richmond County.
