Weekly Racing To End At Lanier National Speedway
BRASELTON, GA – The owner of Lanier National Speedway in Braselton has announced that weekly races will end after almost three decades, though the track will stay open for some other events.
Owner Donnie Clack says the economy was a factor in the decision to end the weekly racing, a longtime tradition for northeast Georgia race fans.
Officials say the Fourth Annual James Garrison Memorial Race set for Sept. 24 will be the final weekly event held at the track.
Though weekly races are ending, officials say the previously scheduled Ice Cold Shriner’s Bowl will still be held in January, and 2012 Speedfest will go on as planned.
Clack said he’s looking at the possibility of leasing the facility for other events such as rodeos or concerts.
