MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – We are hearing what Middle Georgia voters are saying about Vice President Kamala Harris picking Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.

She made her first rally appearance Tuesday night with Walz. Middle Georgia voters are weighing in on her pick.

Bibb County Republican Party Chairman David Sumrall said he’s a radical left-ist who caused crime to increase.

“He’s a weird radical, scandal ridden, social, communist governor. He’s a champion of woke politics. He’s the Bernie Sanders of governors. He celebrated his honeymoon in communist China. He was arrested for dui and pleaded down to a reckless driving charge. Crime is now spiking in Minnesota because of this governor,” Sumrall said.

Macon-Bibb Democratic Party Chairman Jaylan Scott said he’s excited to see a democratic ticket that won’t focus on bashing other candidates like Former President Trump and running mate JD Vance.

“They’re going to bring up the dui because that’s the only thing they know how to do. They have to make you look bad. They can’t win on their policies,” Scott said.Scott adds, Walz’s policies will help the middle class.

“He passed free school lunch and breakfast for children. Literally passing the most funding for schools in the state and very pro-worker. He’s a veteran. Those are characteristics we have here in Macon, so he also understands the fight middle class Georgians and working Georgians have to go through every single day,” Scott said.

Sumrall said Walz’s policies are too extreme

“He favored sex changes of minors without parental approval. He’s supported putting tampons in boy’s bathrooms. He favors Sancturary cities and open borders,” Sumrall said.

Election Day is November 5th.
