Watermelon Capital Speedway Gearing Up For Huge Late Model Race This Weekend

CORDELE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – This weekend is shaping up to be one an action packed weekend at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele. The CRA Watermelon Twin 100’s will highlight twin 100 lap main events for Pro Latemodels and Super Latemodels and will also include local racing divisions.

Sanctioned by Champion Racing Association (CRA), the Watermelon Twin 100’s will feature a double header of racing action that will include both Pro Latemodels as well as Super Latemodels. The JEGS All-Stars Tour presented by GM Performance Parts will feature the Pro Latemodels which will consist of 100 laps of racing, ARCA/CRA Super Series Super Latemodels for 100 laps of racing along with local divisions that will include Bandoleros , Enduro and Outlaw Latemodels..

The event will highlight the nation’s top short track starts including several NASCAR’s second generation drivers. Over 60 Pro Latemodels and Super Latemodels are expected at South Georgia’s fastest 4/10 mile oval.

The two day weekend will commence on Friday October 26 will feature Open Practice with gates opening 1pm with practice from 3-7pm. The speedway will close 6pm. Pit Pass will be $25 or a two day pass for $50. Grandstand admission will be $5 or a two day pass for $25.

Saturday October 27 will be the main attraction and the activity will begin with track opening at 11am. Rotating practice for CRA Pro and Super Latermodels will begin at 2pm and practice for local divisions will take place at 4pm. Qualifying for the Watermelon Twin 100’s will take place at 5pm and racing will begin at 7:00pm. Pit passes will be $35 for adults and kids will be $15. Grandstand admission will be $25 for adults, kids 6-12 $10 and kids under 6 FREE.
