Washington County looking to regroup after 2013 championship game loss
“Few tears were shed,” Ingram said about his team’s loss to Buford, “but not many because the guys were very proud of what we accomplished.”
On defense, Washington County has six starters returning to a group that only allowed 12.7 points per game in 2013. Coach Ingram says he’ll be relying on his stalwarts like linebackers Will Coneway and Stacy Thompson, defensive ends Logan Hunt and C.J. Davis, and defensive back Lorenzo Watts.
Offensively, the Golden Hawks are coming off a season which had them score 47 points per game. With returning quarterback A.J. Gray back in the mix, Ingram believes it’s just a matter of finding other weapons to compliment him in order to get the offense back to last year’s potency.
“You never want to dwell on last year,” Ingram said, “but we were so effective at different positions and attacking people in different areas. We’ve got to be able to do that in order to be successful.”
Washington County’s first game is August 29th versus Thompson.
