What Warnock said about Georgia wildfires and response efforts
Senator praises crews working on the ground

(CNN/WUPA)- U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock is praising first responders and expressing support for communities impacted by wildfires in South Georgia.
Warnock said he recently spent time with emergency crews working on the ground, highlighting their efforts to protect vulnerable residents during evacuations.
“Our first responders are the best among us,” Warnock said. “They were especially focused on making sure that seniors and those who are sick, people who may be non-ambulatory were taken out of harm’s way.”
He said his thoughts are with both the responders and the people affected by the fires.
“My heart is with them, and my heart is with the people of South Georgia, who are tragically all too familiar with the devastating consequences of natural disasters,” Warnock said.
Wildfires fueled by drought and dry conditions have impacted parts of South Georgia in recent days, forcing evacuations and damaging property.
