WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An 18-year-old Warner Robins man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to a 2024 Halloween shooting that left another teenager injured, according to the Houston County District Attorney’s Office.

Hen’darius Jamal Wilson entered a guilty plea Thursday to aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in Houston County Superior Court. Wilson was sentenced to a total of 20 years, with the first 10 years to be served in prison.

Prosecutors said the shooting happened when Wilson was 17 years old on Halloween night 2024. According to the DA’s office, the victim and a group of teenagers were trick-or-treating on Vaughn Street when Wilson approached the victim, pointed a gun at him and tried to rob him.

When the victim ran away, Wilson fired several shots, striking the teen in the leg. People nearby provided first aid until law enforcement and medical personnel arrived. Multiple witnesses on the scene identified Wilson as the shooter, officials said.

Assistant District Attorney Justin Duane released the following statement:

“This is another case of gun violence involving teenagers. I’m happy that Mr. Wilson has taken responsibility for his actions. Unfortunately for Mr. Wilson he will have to spend a large portion of his young adulthood in prison. Because of the work of Detective Broussard, we were able to hold Mr. Wilson accountable. This is a good reminder that gun violence, regardless of your age, is taken seriously in Houston County.”

District Attorney Eric Edwards released the following statement:

“Halloween should be one of the safest and happiest nights of the year for our community’s children. There is absolutely no place for gunfire or violence on our streets while families are out trick-or-treating. The choice Mr. Wilson made that night could have easily cost a child their life. I’m grateful to the Warner Robins Police Department and Detective Broussard for their fast work in bringing justice to this case, and I hope this serves as a reminder that anyone who endangers our neighborhoods—on Halloween or any other night—will face serious consequences in Houston County.”
