Warner Robins Teen Killed in Dune Buggy Accident

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Warner Robins teenager is dead after the dune buggy she was in ran off the roadway and overturned.

16-year-old Theresa Bridges died of the injuries she sustained Friday afternoon, the driver, 17-year-old Joshua Ryals was seriously injured in the accident. According to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Bridges and Ryals were riding along Davis Drive in a 2006 China-Joyner Buggy when Ryals attempted to turn on Minick Street. According to the news release, he “was traveling too fast for the turn and lost control of the vehicle.” The dune buggy overturned and the two were ejected.

The accident is still under investigation by the Houston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division. Houston County Corporal Sean Alexander says the driver will be facing charges upon his release from the hospital.

According to the release, neither Ryals nor Bridges were wearing restraints at the time of the accident, and alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor.
