Warner Robins RDA Has Plans for the City
The city of Warner Robins can expect to see some changes. On Monday, Bill Douglas was elected to serve as Warner Robins Redevelopment Agency Chairman.
According to Douglas, the law enforcement center is the first project on the agenda.
“We’ve gotten the background on that and we know where we want to go and what’s got to be done.”
There is still one piece of property holding the process up, however Douglas anticipates the demolition to start soon.
The new LEC will sit on the corner of First Street and Watson Boulevard.
Nora Reese of Warner Robins says, “When visitors come into Warner Robins the visibility of the police department sitting right there for everybody to see from 247 – it’s just good for the community and Robins Air Force Base, I think it’s a grand idea.”
Reese says the future home of the LEC gives her a sense of security.
Executive Director Gary Lee says the project kills two birds with one stone.
“We have the ability to clean up a blighted area and it’s the entrance to our Air Force Base who is our largest employer in the state of Georgia and it helps us start our revitalization plan.”
According to Chairman Douglas, the RDA is responsible for 8 or 9 projects.
The G-ramp and sports complex may be the next items highlighted on the agenda.
