Warner Robins postal workers join national effort to end hunger
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Warner Robins postal workers joined a national effort Saturday to feed the hungry, collecting food from residents in the 23rd annual “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive.
The workers collected non-perishable food items. The food was brought to the back area of the post office, located at 904 Russell Parkway. There, more than 100 volunteers helped to sort, pack and take the food to various locations.
“We do this to provide the help for the unfortunate ones that’s not able to do it and to help replenish the food banks,” says Warner Robins Postal Service Food Drive Coordinator, Donald Henry. “The food banks which is Trinity, All Saints, and Fellowship Churches.”
Nearly 60,000 pounds of food was collected in Warner Robins.
More than 175,000 city postal carriers participated nationwide.
