Warner Robins Police: Man tries to set car on fire with 2 children inside, arrested after chase

Warner Robins Police arrested a 51-year-old man on aggravated assault and arson charges after a car chase through two counties on Friday.

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) –Warner Robins Police arrested a 51-year-old man on aggravated assault and arson charges after they say he tried to set a car on fire with children inside and then led law enforcement on a chase through two counties on Friday.

According to a Warner Robins Police Department news release, around 1 p.m., Napoleon Gray tried to set a vehicle on fire with a 10-year-old and 1-year-old inside. When officers arrived to the scene in the 700 block of North Houston Road, Gray fled in his vehicle, leading officers on a chase through Warner Robins and Bibb County.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia State Patrol assisted with the pursuit, which ended in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center parking lot. That’s where Gray was taken into custody.

Gray faces multiple charges of aggravated assault due to the initial incident and the pursuit, along with arson.
