Warner Robins police investigating shoplifting, chase near school

HOUSTON COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A shoplifting suspect led police on a vehicle chase Tuesday afternoon near an elementary school in Centerville, forcing the school to go into safety protocols, authorities said.

Houston County 911 first dispatched officers to Ross at 2620 Watson Blvd. at 12:53 p.m. on September 23 in reference to a robbery in progress. The call was later updated to shoplifting at 12:59 p.m.

Police said the suspect fled in a vehicle, which was spotted by Centerville officers. A brief chase ended near Collins Drive and Wilson Drive, where the suspect got out and ran on foot.

Because of the pursuit’s proximity to an elementary school, administrators initiated safety measures to ensure student protection, police said.

The incident remains under investigation, with Warner Robins police following active leads into the shoplifting and related offenses.
