Warner Robins Police Complete LEC

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41 NBC/WMGT) – Warner Robins and its Police Department have completed its new law enforcement center.

The project has taken years to complete and hundreds of city officials took part in Tuesday’s ribbon cutting ceremony.

Warner Robins Mayor Chuck Shaheen spoke on the process that was taken to complete the project and why the city appreciates its police department.

“We’ve been dreaming about this for many years,” Shaheen said. “Now its come to a reality, we want to honor those that protect the city of Warner Robins every day while they patrol streets with heroic acts of bravery.”

The old police station in Warner Robins was becoming too small for the growing force with growing opportunities.

Police Chief Brett Evans thanked everyone who had a hand in making the new center a reality. He also explained the new center’s capabilities.

“We’ve got the ability personnel wise, we have the equipment, we did not have the facilities and location,” Chief Evans said. “Now we’ll have everything put together in one place.”

The center is 42,000 square feet and cost almost $10 Million. It was predominantly paid for using special purpose local option sales tax or SPLOST.

Mayor Shaheen also told 41 NBC what the new center means for the area.

“This just shows that we aren’t going to tolerate crime in our city,” Shaheen said. “We hopefully think that this will stimulate some economic development in the downtown area, but we just really wanted all the officers and give them a better working environment to work in.”
