Warner Robins Police Chief is in the Clear
The Peace Officer Standards and Training investigation is final.
Warner Robins Chief of Police Brett Evans is in the clear. After battling allegations of policy violations and grand jury concerns, Chief Evans is ready to move forward and continue serving the city of Warner Robins.
“The working relationship with the Mayor has been strained of course, because of just the entire position of things and the comfort zone not being there,” said Chief Evans.
Chief Evans admits in the past it’s been difficult working with Warner Robins City Council and Mayor Chuck Shaheen.
“As an agency we’re doing well to avoid anything conflict wise so that’s what’s important to us.”
He was suspended last August for a city policy violation, then re-instated by city council members a day later. Chief Evans says he just wants to put all of this behind him.
Mayor Shaheen says he does not regret his decision to suspend.
“If I had to do it all over again, I would do the same thing. I was told by POST that when you suspend someone to turn the forms in, so I turned the forms in. It wasn’t a complaint.”
Whether Chief Evans and Mayor Shaheen see eye-to-eye on the process of events, there is one thing they agree on. Both say public safety comes first.
