Warner Robins, Perry Named Top Affordable Places to Live

HOUSTON COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A popular real estate blog has listed two Houston County cities as a few of the most affordable in the state.

Phil Lambert can get tied down while he’s on the job.

He’s a broker at Landmark Realty in Perry. Lambert usually has a few selling in points in mind when convincing a family to move in.

“A quaint downtown area that’s kind of dissapepared from a lot of these southern towns,” Lambert said.

He says during the Spring, home sales sky rocket in the city, and this year he might have a little help.

Perry along with Warner Robins were named as two of the most affordable places to live in Georgia according to popular blog Movoto.com.

“Excellent school system, of course. Warner Robins has the air force base, which is the largest employer in the state of Georgia. It’s kind of the engine that makes middle Georgia run if you will,” Lambert said.

The site ranked the cities based on cost of food, utility, unemployement, and median income.

And it’s even caught the attention of one famous middle Georgia family.

Honey Boo Boo, Mama June, and the entire family were recently spotted checking out houses in the area.

“Perry has just a really cute downtown. It’s very family-friendly. There’s a lot to do as far as little shops down here and it’s a very good community to raise a good family,” one Perry resident said.

Lambert says Perry’s sense of community draws in hundreds to the city every year.

“It’s really you get the best of both worlds, it’s not to far away from some hustle and bustle if you like that.” Lambert said.

“If you prefer the small town community then you’ve come to the right place,” he said.
