Warner Robins Optimist Club honors local law enforcement

The ceremony was the first time the club met in person since the beginning of the pandemic.

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)— The Warner Robins Noon Optimist Club held its first in person meeting since the beginning of the pandemic to honor local law enforcement.

Just like many other organizations, the Warner Robins Noon Optimist Club spent the last year meeting virtually. Thursday’s meeting was held at Ole Times on Watson Boulevard. Club president Rodney Mines says it was an honor to recognize local law enforcement.

“To me it seems like they get the raw end of the stick most of the time,” Mines said. “And they need to have their time to shine and let people know that what they do is well needed and deserved.”

The club honored recipients from Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Perry Police, Centerville Police, and Warner Robins Police. The honorees from Perry and Warner Robins were last years recipients who didn’t get a ceremony. Warner Robins Police Chief, John Wagner, says they wanted to make sure Investigator Keenan Henderson was recognized. He says Investigator Henderson is a great representative of the police department.

“He’s very good with the community and knowing the community,” Chief Wagner said. “He’s also very well with finding felonies, drugs, money, guns, very good with that.”

Investigator Henderson says he appreciated the Officer of the Year ceremony, and the chance for everyone to be back together in person. He says last year was a struggle, but all of the officers worked through it.

“They have the community’s best interest at heart and we want to make sure the community knows we’re still out here working for them,” Investigator Henderson said. “We want to make sure everyone feels they’re getting the quality of service that they need.”

  • Perry Police:
    • Sgt. Justin West
  • Warner Robins Police
