Warner Robins Music Teacher Nominated for a GRAMMY
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A music teacher in Houston County has been nominated for a Grammy.
Faye Boyer is one of over 200 quarter-finalists for the first ever Music Educator Award.
The award recognizes kindergarten through college educators who’ve made a lasting contribution to music education.
She says she tries to bring more than music to the classroom.
“I’m looking at the team building that they get, I’m looking at the confidence, they learn how to take a risk, just to stand up and get in front of people,” Boyer said. “Music is a discipline, and I tell them right away it takes self disciplined people to be good at it.”
She was nominated by one of her former students who is now in high school in another county.
The next round of finalists will be announced in August.
The winner will be announced live at the 2014 Grammy Awards and will be getting a $10,000 grant.
