Warner Robins Man to Serve Life in Prison for Killing His Wife

Jose GarciaWARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A Warner Robins man was sentenced to life in prison without parole Monday after he pleaded guilty to killing his wife.

According to a news release from Houston County District Attorney George Hartwig, 47-year-old Jose Garcia shot and killed his wife Maria on August 23, 2010.

At the time of the murder, Garcia been separated from his wife Maria for more than a month, He went to her home where he committed the crime after the two got into an argument

Then, Garcia went back to his apartment, pulled out a knife, and stabbed himself, apparently trying to commit suicide.

At the time, Garcia and his wife were raising four children.

Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Daniel Bibler prosecuted this case.

“This is a tragic case that has shattered the lives of four young people… This sentence is appropriate and sends a message that domestic violence will not be tolerated,” said Bibler.

In response to the plea, and sentencing Hartwig said, “The murder of Maria Garcia was a senseless and cowardly act of domestic violence. The Houston DA’s office will continue to seek justice for those who have lost a loved one to domestic violence murder.”
